Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday and a Giveaway

It's time for another Follow Friday
This weeks question:
What makes up your non-human family?
Two cats:
William the Bloody and
Domo: "Oh Hai!"
Will: "WTF is this thing?"

 The Salacious Crumb
Crumb: "I like to read a good novel... so what?"
Crumb: "Ooooh, Zombies are interesting..."

And Book Blogger Hop!
This week's question:
"Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"
I mainly read fantasy because I read to escape.

I do read non-fantasy all the time... but I like fantasy best. There are usually epic journeys involved... and while I have found stories of women living in Walmart very interesting... it just didn't hold the same appeal to me that fantasy did.

Now, I'm not saying that if it's well done, I'll still poo-poo it... that's not the case at all. If it's well written and holds my interest, I'll love it... but generally, I find real life is sad enough, I don't need to read some fictional character's epic struggle with real world sadness to add onto that.

Also, Don't forget my current giveaway,

  7. LOL, those pics cracked me up :D How did you get Will to look right at you?!? That's tough to do with pets. I've never been really taken with fantasy but some books in that genre are really good in their own right. Old follower hopping by :) Here's my post.

  10. Cute kitties!

It's interesting your take on fantasy books. I like to read some of them on occasion, not a whole lot. I prefer the urban fantasy, to give me a world that I can believe exists right next door in familiar settings.

  13. Here I am hopping on by...

I went all over the map with this question on my blog. I read and enjoy almost every genre of fiction out there. There’s no way I could just pick one.

So I talked about all of them. Even romance fiction (sort of)! I invite you to hop over to my blog at http://www.howardsherman.net and see for yourself.

  17. I love the pictures of your cats. Especially William and Domo. That is too funny.

Yes, I totally agree with you on the fantasy genre -- I hate reading books that are depressing realistic fiction... really takes you down. It's much more fun to "get away from it all" with a good book, preferably with some wizards, unicorns, vampires, or the like.
