This week's question:
What book have you've been meaning
to read forever AND you finally did?

I can answer this because I *JUST* did this!

The first book in the 39 Clues series is one I've been meaning
to check out FOR-EV-ER.
I finally did last week, and I LOVED IT!

This weeks question:
Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate — ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it?

Yes, I was given a book by my neighbor, and when
looked at the synopsis I ABSOLUTELY didn't want to
read the book... but I read it to be a good neighbor...
and I really liked it, way more than I expected!

What was the book?
 Warm Bodies
by Isaac Marion

It was a really pleasant surprise!

    1. Honestly, based on the description, it ABSOLUTELY wasn't my sort of book. It surprised me.

  3. I LOVED the movie of Warm Bodies! When I read the synopsis at home, it sounded stupid and boring, but the movie was just great!! It had me dying to read more zombie books (:
    Thanks for sharing!

    1. I'd be interested in seeing the movie (although I'm more excited for World War Z... which, from the previews, doesn't look ANYTHING like the book)... but yeah... it would be neat to see how they adapted Warm Bodies into a movie.

The book was worth the read.

    2. ... I should make note... I loved the book, World War Z... my reply was unclear on that, lol... I just love a good zombie movie, but when it comes to the World War Z movie, the only thing I can tell so far is that they just are using the name of the book... I've not seen anything in the previews that resembles what you find on the pages of the book. You know... other than zombies.

  4. Nice! That happens with me on occasion, mostly when I go to buy a book and it's shelved in romance. I get worried, wondering if this will be so lovey-dovey romance, yet hear good things about it or was intrigued by the plot which seemed to lack anything romantic...

Yeah, was very apprehensive in the early days but now I know that just because it's in romance doesn't mean it will be all romantic! Sometimes bookstores are just weird. :D

    1. You know, I think Maria V. Snyder was categorized in romance... the Poison Studies series, at least. XD

I agree though... I have some biases about genres that I have to overcome when people tell me a book outside my comfort zone is really, really, really good.

    1. They're middle grade and have a collectible card tie in... but the cards aren't actually necessary to understand the book or enjoy it, it's just a marketing thing. I've heard a lot of people complain about it, but I think it's cute.

    1. It was a book first XD ... that happens a lot these days though, Hollywood is jumping on the whole YA themed bandwagon, so sometimes, who can tell anymore... especially with zombies, lol, they're everywhere!

  8. I am so obsessed with zombies, it's impossible for me to fathom anyone would consider NOT liking a zombie book. :) But I'm glad you took a chance on this one. I loved the book, and I loved the movie, even though they were quite different. The essential story was the same, but the film dialed WAY back on the gore. (Not a surprise since it was PG-13.) It was more a romance (done very well, IMO) between a girl and a guy who just happened to be a zombie.

I've got serious concerns about World War Z. Tons of reshoots, and Brad Pitt and the director apparently hated each other and stopped speaking mid-way through. I'm still going to see it, but my expectations are low.

And about that comment two posts above mine, I got the same one. I actually joked about it in a Twitter chat today. What exactly is the point? I give you points for visiting the blog - I didn't bother.

But thanks for visiting mine! :)

    1. Oh, I love zombie novels too... but I was really not interested in seeing the genre crossed with a sappy, emo, teenaged love story. That's the part that didn't appeal to me... and admittedly, it's my least favorite part of the book... I just have a hard time she'd fall in love with him like that. Like him? Yes. Befriend him? Yes... but make out with him? Hmmmm. XD

That's crazy about World War Z... honestly, I don't expect it to be *anything* like the book. From the previews I get the feeling they just bought the rights for the sake of using the name... and then disregarded a lot of the book. It will be interesting to see.

Yeah, as for that post, I've been through 50 blogs so far and she's left that on every one. Jana Grissom is a slacker, hard core. It always irks me when people don't answer the question, or when they link to a totally unrelated post... I only participate in these Friday events when I actually care to see other people's answers to the question... so when they're obviously only in it for followers, it really irks me.

    1. I'm going to be honest... choose your zombie book carefully. Read reviews, do your research. I've read several short story compilations and half to 75% of the stories in them were just awful. If I'd never read a zombie book before that, I totally would have quit the genre altogether. I did really love World War Z... and Zombies Vs. Unicorns XD Also a series that starts with a book called The Enemy (by Charlie Higson, I think?), as well as others... but I don't want to make a mile long post XD

  10. I've never been able to get into zombie novel. I've tried several, but have never really been able to get past mindless beings coming at you. Maybe I should try Warm Bodies. The cover is awesome at least.

Thanks for coming by and leaving such a thoughtful comment!

    1. You should try Warm Bodies then... it's all about the zombies NOT being mindless beings... I mean... the main character is a zombie... so he's got to have a bit more going on. :)

  11. Thank you for stopping by my FF post. I have been meaning to read Warm Bodies myself. I have mixed feelings, but there is a movie coming out and I won't see a movie without reading a book first.

    1. If you're in the US, it's already out, (which I didn't realize, lol).

Honestly, I thought I would hate this book because of the romance aspect... but... the whole "from a zombie perspective" and how he handled the zombie even being interested in a romance in the first place, vs. just eating the girl, was interesting to me. I was surprised. :)
