It's time for Feature & Follow Friday!
Go HERE to join in!
This week's question:
If you could only have ONE – one book – for the rest of your life, don’t cheat…what would it be?
Hrrrrm.... this is a tough one.
Really... reallyreallyreally tough.
My first instinct is to name a Harry Potter book,
namely, The Prisoner of Azkaban...
but if I really, really, really thought about it,
I think I'd want something with more to it... something that was a complete story, so that I didn't find myself longing for the other books in the series...
So my choice has to be:
Really... reallyreallyreally tough.

So my choice has to be:
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
by Susanna Clarke
by Susanna Clarke
It's filled with elements I love,
it's long and beautifully written,
it's complicated and layered
and it's a complete story...
Something I feel I could read over and over if it were the only thing
I could ever read again.
and it's a complete story...
Something I feel I could read over and over if it were the only thing
I could ever read again.
I nearly picked The Prisoner of Azkaban too! But then I chose The Fault in Our Stars, as it is my favourite stand-alone read!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
My FF
Blogaversary Giveaway (ends tomorrow)
I DID pick HP, but I'm not sorry!
ReplyDeleteBut then again, this FF made my brain hurt and I had to pick quickly or else go MAD! I like your choice, picking a self contained book is smart because you get a beginning and resolution to your story.

ReplyDeleteNew GFC follower and thanks for stopping my blog Home Of A Book Lover
I've never heard of this book, but I like your reasoning. I had similar reasoning for the book that I chose. I think it would make sense to have a long book with a lot of meat to it. Thanks for stopping by my FF! I'm following you back via Bloglovin'!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Haven't read that one yet, but you give some great reasons for picking it! I'm an old follower, thanks for stopping by my FF as well.
ReplyDeleteHa! Harry Potter crossed my mind too, but I agree I need the WHOLE series! I haven't read your choice, but I'll check it out. New bloglovin follower! Thanks for stopping by my FF.

I know what you mean. It's impossible to choose only one of the Harry Potters without craving the others. Thanks for stopping by. Following you back.

Haha great minds thinks alike. I co-sign your choice ;). Prisoner of Azkaban is also great, my favorite Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, following via Bloglovin'
I tried to read this a long time ago. And, I guess because of the elements you said (long, detailed) I didn't finish. Your choice makes me want to reconsider, though. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by our FF we haven't read it but we will check it!!!
ReplyDelete:)
I've never heard of this one. I thought about picking a HP book too. I think a lot of people did!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my F&F. I keep meaning to finish Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. I was slowly making my way through this one before I had to stop for exams one year and somehow I never went back. One day...
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of that one. Old follower too :-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this one yet but it sounds good. Great pick! Old follower :-)

I've never heard of this book. But agree that you couldn't have just one Harry Potter, you'd need the rest of the series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. :D

I have never heard about this book, but if it is filled with things you love, you should do OK.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
I was exactly the same as you! I was going to pick an HP book & POA is my favourite, but then I would just be torchered with wanting the rest in the series!!
ReplyDeleteNew twitter & Bloglovin follower :)
Amy @ The Reading Realm
I have not heard of this one before. I heard a lot of Harry Potter responses but I liked your reasoning for not picking that one. I agree definitely hard to pick on in a series and not die for more after you read it. Thank you for stopping by and commenting.
ReplyDeleteOld follower!
It is definitely a good choice if you would read it again and again :)
ReplyDeleteFollowing you back :)

Someone else picked this book as well! I haven't heard of it. Thanks for stopping by my page earlier! New follower on BlogLovin!
