Welcome to another lovely Feature & Follow!
This weeks question seems to be a sort of follow up to last weeks...
Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?
Man... what a question.
I suspect my answer will be one that comes up a lot, but...
Harry Potter
This series deserves every bit of hype it gets.
All 7 of the books are in the top 10 of most selling books of all time 0_0
These books got MILLIONS of children reading.
These book got MILLIONS of adults reading.
These book got MILLIONS of adults reading.
Were there some plot holes?
Yes...
Yes...
Yet, even with the plot holes, this series is a triumph.
The characters are strong and wonderful.
The girls aren't OBSESSED with romance.
They are filled to the brim with a cleverness you rarely find in YA books these days.
Plus... like Twilight, there is some pretty great humor out there surrounding them...
especially the movies:
especially the movies:
And speaking of the movies... they only acted to endear this series further...
We have literally watched these children grow up... and the movies have
a wonderful sense of whimsy about them.
I truly loved this series.
It made me wish, strongly, that this world existed.
I love that quote by Alan Rickman; I know I'll still be reading these books years from now.

Me too, I'm thinking it may be time to reread these guys for Halloween XD
DeleteAwesome post! I really like that Alan Rickman one! Thanks for stopping by my blog! :D Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote by Alan Rickman, it references one of my favourite scenes in the whole series. Oh poor Severus. Perfect choice and I love your post. Old follower hopping by :)

Deleteand... good answer XD
Hopping through. I love how you structured your answer. Totally agree with you on HP.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I try to make them a little more interesting than the one or two word answers... I used to give the short answer, but I always go through all the blogs on the hop, and after a while, your brain kind of goes numb. I hope people stopping here enjoy it!
DeleteOMG! this question only reminds me that I haven't read any of the Harry Potter's books :(

ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
This seems to be a very popular choice today, but again, I completely agree, it's totally worth all the hype! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was just a great series. XD
DeleteI love your post and love Alan Rickman! Harry Potter is the best!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
Rickman is awesome, isn't he?
DeleteThat is a perfect answer- and I never questioned the whole "let's save buckbeak but let James and Lily bite the big one". ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! (follower)
I know, right? You should watch the video too... SO TRUE!
DeleteYeah, your answer has come up a lot. It still doesn't interest me though. Can't explain it. I wish I could get into it. I'm more Sci-Fi than Fantasy. I've just never had a desire to read Harry Potter or Twilight or any paranormal books. Those two books in particular have seemed to define a generation...or two.
ReplyDeleteMy FF Post
Free download of Priscilla the Great book one. Click here!
See, there's a total difference between saying "Fantasy isn't for me" and saying, "I don't read hyped books"
DeleteIt's fine if you don't care for the fantasy genre, many people don't... but not reading books just because they're getting attention, without looking into them, you could really be missing out. (I'm assuming you don't read hyped Science Fiction either, based on your FF post... and I think you've probably missed a lot of great stuff if that's the case)
And Harry Potter isn't paranormal, it's fantasy. I'm not much a fan of paranormal novels either... and I'm not in the generation that grew up with Harry Potter... I'm older than that, but can still appreciate them for what they are, a great story.
LOL about the time turner! I never thought about that! but YES Harry Potter will always be worth the continuous hype. Always.
ReplyDelete-My FF & Wrap-up at Novel Reveries
Time travel is such messy business... it's one of those things that when you're stuck in the middle of book 3, you just don't think about XD
DeleteThat was such a great Feature/Follow post! I haven't read these yet, I'm waiting til my kidlets grow up a little more and we can all read them together!
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting me a little more excited about the wait!
Here's my FF's for this week Book Me! and

Happy Friday! =D
I think that's an awesome idea... these will work great read aloud.
DeleteMake sure you do the voices for everyone too, XD
I love the pictures and that Alan Rickman quote! Harry Potter was worth all of the hype! Great pick!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow old follower
Book Review Club
LOL, yeah, when you completely fall in love with a series, it's hard to be objective about it. I find a hard time being that way with Harry Potter, even though I know there are things in that series that aren't that great. XD
DeleteI really love what Twilight did in getting people to read though, THAT was awesome!
:)
Go Harry Potter!!!

DeleteI absolutely loved your post. Loved the Alan Rickman quote, the funny pics. All of it. Completely agree with you on everything. HP lived up to the hype. New Follower. =] Thanks for sharing and visting My FF
ReplyDeleteMichael @ The Bookshelf Review
I'm glad you enjoyed it :) Yeah, Harry Potter kind of captured the imagination of the world.
DeleteYou make some great, funny points. I've only seen the first three movies, so I didn't know Crabbe slimmed down and got a tan. ^_^ Also, wow, Ron got hot.
ReplyDeleteOld follower, no FF post this week. :)
They ALL got hot! Those are some good lookin' kids XD They'll do great in the acting industry as long as they can keep their lives together. Hopefully they get a lot of support.
DeleteYeah... Crabbe DID change the most, LOL.
Wow this was great! I couldn't resist rewatching that video either. It's hilarious! And actually does make alot of sense if you think about it. LOL. I really want to do a re-read of Harry Potter badly. That would be a really cool blog hop idea actually.
ReplyDeleteRE: ASOIF The wait for ADWD must have been horrible. When I read the note at the back of AFFC, I laughed so hard because you can tell he really thought the book would have been out the following year. I really hope the wait for TWOW isn't going to be that long. I heard a rumor that we probably wouldn't see it until at least 2014, but I hope HBO puts a little bit of pressure on him to finish sooner than that because there's so many things I need to know now. LOL. Do you visit any fansites? I love winter-is-coming.net and westeros.org. So informative. :) If you ever want to talk ASOIF, feel free to follow me on my personal twitter: @ashowerofsparks :)
Thanks again for stopping by the blog! :)
I agree, hopefully the TV series lights a little fire under him. It's painful to wait so long for a book with so many friggin characters in it. I know a lot of people had to go back and reread them all when this last one came out, because who can remember every little detail after almost a decade???
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the Potter stuff :)
Heather - I love that quote!! I love Alan Rickman anyway, but that quote kind of sums up everything. And I think the series made lots of people wish that world existed. :)
ReplyDeleteOld follower of yours - and thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Happy FF!

Now, I'm too freaked out why in the world haven't I read this series. I've seen HP everywhere and I just don't understand what the hype is all about. But when I saw your post..I want to read it NOW..even though I'm not that familiar with what you're talking about. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for droppin by my FF!

Well, the key is really this:
DeleteDo you like Fantasy novels?
If fantasy novels aren't your thing, then you might think this is just an ok read, but if you enjoy them, then read on!
Also remember, these books age with the characters... as in, the first books start out more Middle Grade, and they evolve, getting darker, with more complex relationships as they go on. They kind of grew up as they went :)
What a unique and creative answer :D
ReplyDeleteLOVED Harry Potter, too. Just loved it. Oh my...good times...
I'm so totally following you!
LOL, thanks for the follow, and I'm glad you enjoyed the post... I need to reread them so I can actually review them... I read them pre-blog, LOL
DeleteWonderful post! I too wish this world really existed. Such a wonderful series!

DeleteI definitely agree, Harry Potter dominates this field and should probably go down in history for making such an epic change to the world keke.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!

For sure, not to mention it holds 7 of the top 10 spots for most selling book of all time.
DeleteI share your Harry Potter love :) Alan Rickman..sigghh!
ReplyDeletehehehe, EXACTLY... what a wonderful voice!
DeleteHarry Potter is awesome. I love re-reading the books. They just get better each and every time. :D

I need to reread them so I can write a review, I've only read and reread them pre-blog!
DeleteHarry Potter is a fantastic answer--reading your post totally makes me want to reread the series now because I miss it so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF :)
I think a lot of people are in this boat. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by my FF! Harry Potter is a terrific answer! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSame to you :)
DeleteThis is the one super hyped series that I haven't been able to get into. It was read to me when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade and I really enjoyed it, but then I tried to read it myself a few years later and couldn't do it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
<3 Doodle :)
The thing to remember with Harry Potter is 1. It's fantasy. If you don't like fantasy, you'll probably feel "meh" about Harry Potter, and 2. It ages as the books go. It starts out very middle grade and evolves to be darker and more adult as the series goes on.
DeleteThat's why I'm confused as to why I couldn't get into Harry Potter. I like fantasy and I tried reading it when I was in 7th grade. I figured that because I loved it when it was read to me that I would love it on my own. Not the case. :(
DeleteUnderstandable... in 7th grade, if you didn't get past the first few books, they might have just been to kiddy for you... they really do age, writing and plot-wise, as they go... then again, some people just don't like Harry Potter, LOL, there's nothing wrong with that either!!!
DeleteYep, I seen that on a lot of answers. I actually forgot about that one till I seen it on someones answers..lol. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteLOL, yeah, Harry Potter affected some more than others XD
DeleteRickman is pretty sexy... and, oh, the plotholes! I still love Harry, though. ;P
ReplyDeleteI'm following back!!
Exactly! I love it, I know there are plot holes, but oh do I still love it.
DeleteI am probably the only person in the history of ever who hasn't read Harry Potter. I really wish I had before the movies came out. I've been seeing Harry Potter a lot lately. Thank you for following me still and for the comment!!! You Rock!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! LOL, don't feel bad, there are others :) I promise!
DeleteHahaha, yeah, his character is slowly replaced... it's mysterious.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike! ;) Thanks for stopping by! Following back via GFC :) xxx
ReplyDeleteXD Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteLove, love, love that Alan Rickman quote!
ReplyDeleteMe too, it's pretty much perfect.
DeleteHarry Potter has been a popular answer this week. I have not read any of the Potter books. Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you like Fantasy at all, you should check them out.
DeleteI love your answer. It really made me laugh.... I haven't made it through all the books, but maybe someday I will. I have only made it through a little bit of the 4th one. So I still have a ways to go.... =D
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog earlier, returning the favor now =D
It's a long series XD At least you tried, or are trying. People who like the fantasy genre, but won't even try because "they were too popular" bug me.
DeleteI've never read a Harry Potter book!
ReplyDeleteWell, with all the movies out, I guess it's too late to start now :-)
Lectus
WHA??!! Nononononono, if you liked the movies, my goodness, read the books, they're SO MUCH BETTER!
DeleteSigh... I love Harry Potter sooo much.
ReplyDeleteSame here XD
DeleteI'm surprised I didn't see Harry Potter MORE for this question, because I think it's a great choice. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI agree... but then, I think people forgot about it, or thought they had to answer with books they've heard about lately... because I also think 1984 was worth the hype, and To Kill a Mockingbird... but you didn't really see anyone mention anything too old, or that hasn't been hyped recently (such as... George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones... I mean, that's a fairly old series... but I think it made a few people's list, not because they were readers from the beginning, but because they dug the show and read the books... I was glad to see it... but it wasn't chosen because it's an old classic XD)
DeleteGreat grouping of quotes and images! Return follower, thanks for hitting my blog already!
ReplyDeleteNo problem, thanks for stopping by!
DeleteHey
ReplyDeleteThnx for stopping by my FF
I am very and utterly ashamed to tell you that I do own the HP book but have not read them yet :S haha
Kyanara
Owning it is half the battle, LOL. Now's the perfect time to read it... being all about witches, wizards and magic, Halloween is the perfect holiday for them!
DeleteOh my gosh.... you couldn't have captured my thoughts any better:
ReplyDelete"It made me wish, strongly, that this world existed"
Beautiful, beautiful line!
Fiction, so much better than reality... I mean, reality is nice and all... but GAH!
DeleteThat was one of the neatest posts I've seen in a while! *Laugh* hate to say it, but I was one of the few that didn't get into this series.
ReplyDeleteReturn follower. :)
~M
I actually don't think there is anything wrong with that.
DeleteSome people aren't fans of fantasy, some people are sick to death of the orphan boy story, and heck, some people just didn't dig it, it is very, VERY Middle Grade when it starts out, and if you're used to fantasy like Tolkien or Abercrombie or Martin... well, it falls short.
The only people I take issue with are the ones who won't even try it because it's "too popular, so it must be crap". That really bothers me... it's just the whole "I'm too cool for you" mentality, and it's arrogant and annoying. XD
Great pick. I definitely agree. I love the poster of Dumbledore about the time turner, lol. There were some plot holes that I didn't really notice until years later, but there's still a special place on my bookshelf for the series. =) Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI think Harry Potter is the ultimate choice for this question. It really is legendary and will live on in all our hearts forever. That quote by Alan Rickman is so good, and so true! I will never stop going back to Harry Potter. :D
ReplyDeleteFabulous post! Thanks for stopping by my blog. :D
I haven't read the books >.>
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the first like 4 movies and after that, I wasn't all that impressed. I love your pictures of the changes in characters, they're fabulous!
